F250 Steering Jerking. i called redhead and explained the jerking wheel to them and they said a sticking valve in the gearbox could cause the issue. lift up truck and have steering all the way to one side, then lock one hub at a time and spin the tire on that side. the truck ran fine for a couple weeks but now it's worse than ever. Every time i go around a turn the wheels buck like crazy. Every drive was a white knuckle experience. Friction or too little clearance in the steering gear, steering linkage or ball joints. after the pop the steering wheel and whole front of the truck will shift left and right like someone is grabbing the wheel,. how much steering play do you have? one quick way to check for loose ball joints is to grab the edges of the tire and try to rock it back and forth. i've had loose, jerky, wandering steering ever since i got my truck with 320k on it.
